Special measures to insure accessibilty for handicapt people & wheelchair users

Miniworld Rotterdam has been designed in a way that it can also be an experience to people that are less agile. The attraction has no doorsteps, so that wheelchair- and scootmobile users can move unimpeded. The width of the entrance, exit and footpaths are optimized for this where possible. A special elevator was installed to make the cellar with smaller layout, minicinema and toilets accessible.

Design miniature world adjusted to wheelchair users

In the design of the miniature world we took in account wheelchair- and scoormobile users. For this and other reasons we have put the basicframe of the miniature world on a maximum height of 85 cm. The fence along the miniature world with a height of 110 cm is so designed to give wheelchair users a nice viewpoint on the miniature world just over the fence.

Reachableness	Sufficient	Pavements outside are adjusted. Miniworld Rotterdam has no parkinglot of its own. Thus we are dependent on third parties for parkingfacilities. In parkinggarage P2 provisions are insufficient. There are no special invalid parkingspaces nearby. However regular parkingspots in direct vicinity are useable.
Accessibilty	Good	Entrance and exit equipped with ramps and/or minimal doorsteps. Paths entrance & register wide enough. At registers there is a special entrance for wheelchairs, etc.
Useability	Good	All rooms and halls inside are useable for everyone. Paths at buffet and register in restaurant are wide enough. Children's corner wide enough for a parent in a wheelchair.
Toilet	Very good	Invalid toilet on ground floor, next to restaurant. Enough room to manouvre inside and outside. Toilet equipped with emergency alarm.
